12 Nov A complete guide for your romantic weekend in Deia Mallorca
There is nothing like a romantic weekend in Deia Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain, in a charming accommodation with your partner (and if you have children then without them?). From time to time it is good to get away from your children, and they from us, and your obligations. You will return home loaded with positive energy.
We decided on the area of the ‘Sierra de la Tramontana‘ where we stayed in the pictoresque village Deia in the beautiful Hotel Sa Pedrissa. Afterwards we spent a few days at a friends’ house in Formentor. A perfect combination because in my opinion they are one the most beautiful areas of the mallorcan island. Amazing nature, beautiful coves, picturesque villages and an interesting gastronomic offer come all together on one island.
In this post you will find all the necesary information on luxury accomodations, elegant and charming restaurants, and a list of activities for your perfect stay in Deia Mallorca.
Charming accomodation for your romantic weekend in Deia Mallorca
Deia is a small coastal town in the west of Mallorca. Its name of arabic origin (ad – daia) means village. It is difficult not to fall in love with this town with its ocher colored houses, cobbled streets and the high quality of its gastronomy. The village is very much related to artistic life and breaths a relaxed and bohemian atmosphere. There is no mass tourism or massive buildings. Everything is in harmony.
Finding a charming accommodation here for a romantic weekend is not difficult. We decided on the hotel Sa Pedrissa because of it’s high qualification on Booking.com and I love the hotel design. We hit full!
Hotel Sa Pedrissa in Deia Mallorca:
Because it is an Adults Only hotel, children are not allowed, the Hotel Sa Pedrissa is perfect for a romantic weekend. The hotel is a renovated country house from the XVII century where original features meet modern luxury.
As a result its the ideal place for those seeking peace, harmony and Mallorcan design. The location on the outskirts of Deia is an absolute privilege; both from the different terraces as from the pool there are spectacular views of the coast, the sea and looking inland the town of Deia.
You get completely zen relaxing on their sun loungers by the pool enjoying the views. I could have been lying there for days, and I’m not the sunbathing type. But the view was so beautiful and impressive …
The hotel is surrounded by a pleasant well kept garden at different heights and with many corners. Hence ideal to have a drink or breakfast, read a book or just relax.
Different types of accommodation:
In total there are 13 rooms divided in different types of accommodation ranging from double rooms to two large suites. Its renovated Suites with Sea Views are beautiful; they are modern and cozy at the same time, divided in bedroom, living room and bathroom.
- Superior Double Room
Grandes Suites
I want to highlight the 2 Grand Suites that are like independent bungalows from the rest of the buildings. Therefor they are a good solution for those who appreciate their own space but at the same time want the services of a hotel at hand. They can accommodate up to 4 people in each, although I think it is more suitable for 2 people or a couple with a slightly older son or daughter. Although it is adult only, they told me that if you come with one child of 12 years or older, there is no problem.
- Grand Suites with Private Pool
Each bungalow has a living room, bedroom en-suite and one has also integrated its own kitchen, something that I value a lot for longer stays because in general I get really tired of all the restaurant food. They have a beautiful exterior chill out area with its own pool and terrace.

Gastronomy at Sa Pedrissa
We didn’t have any lunch or diner at the hotel so I can not comment on it but the breakfast is great. Try the muesli already mixed with yogurt and honey. They prepare it the night before and it’s absolutly delicious.
Villa Club; luxury holiday homes in Deia Mallorca
Villa Club is a rental agency of luxury villas. They describe themselfes as ‘the premium villa rental service dedicated to those travelers looking for an exclusive experience‘.
They rent amazing villas throughout the Spanish territory with a special emphasis on the Balearic Islands in Ibiza and Mallorca. But they also rent charming houses in Andalusia, Asturias, the Costa Brava …

The elegant and spacious villas are mostly built in line with the local architecture. The design of the interiors is also realised with great taste, in harmony with the exterior and its surroundings.
Each house has a personal concierge available 24/7 to answer any questions. In addition, they can offer in most of their homes additional services such as catering, cleaning or babysitter.

On this occasion, we only needed lodging for our romantic weekend. But for a longer stay I always prefer houses to hotels (or something like the Grand Suites of the Sa Pedrissa Hotel). Because in general we are 2 families, these Villa Club villas seem to me as a magnificent option. Usually the rental is for complete weeks, although in some occasion they make an exception (I suppose that will rather be in low season).
Gastronomy for your romantic weekend in Mallorca:
For the food lover, Mallorca is a wonderful destination; the offer of high quality restaurants is very extensive. I give you some ideas for your stay in the area of Deía, Pollensa and Alcudía:
Restaurants in Deia Mallorca
✅ Sebastian: This restaurant is located in the center of Deia in an 250 years old typical Mallorcan stable. It is super cozy. The chef and owner Sebastian bases the menu mainly on seasonal products. We had a wonderful dinner. I recommend going at night and enjoying its warm atmosphere by candlelight.

✅ El Olivo: forms part of the the luxurious 5 star Hotel & Spa Belmond La Residencia. We have not eaten here but several people recommended the place. Therefor during our next stay we will definitly make a reservation. It has a terrace with magnificent views of the village of Deia. The products come mainly from their own garden or from the merchants in the area.
✅ Café Sa Fonda Deia: for the aperitif or in the evening after dinner I recommend having a drink at Café Sa Fonda opened since 1988 and famous for its bohemian alternative spirit. Many famous people such as Kate Moss, Bob Geldoff, Sting, Mike Oldfield have spend their nights here and some have even spontaneously played some live music .
✅ Ca’s Patro March restaurant in Cala Deia: Famous for having shot some scenes from the series The Nightmanager. Although it is not a luxurious place, the location and the food are. The open-air restaurant is situated on a cliff in the rocky cove overlooking the sea. The design is simple but beachy and cosy with its wooden tables, blue chairs and bamboo and straw roof (if it rains, you will get wet).

The food is magnificent. We ordered the Soller prawns (they look a little like the Carabinero, huge red prawns, which is my favorite seafood) and a goat cheese salad with dried tomatoes. All this accompanied by a good white wine and you will be in heaven.
Due to this perfect combination, in general it is fully booked. Make your reservation some time in advance! You can reach the Cala de Deia in a 30 minute walk or by car. Parking is limited so take your time in summer.
Restaurants in the north of Mallorca
If you stay in the Sierra de la Tramuntana, do also go north to visit its villages and enjoy the magnificent restaurants.

Son Brull Hotel
✅ Restaurant 365 of Hotel Son Brull: An elegant restaurant located within the Boutique Hotel Son Brull that is part of Relais & Chateau, a chain that gathers gourmet restaurants and luxury hotels all over the world.
We dined here with a group of friends on their terrace next to the pool. It offers interesting tasting menus or you can choose to eat A La Carte. An ideal place for a romantic dinner!
Their dishes are based on ingredients from their own organic production and products from the land and sea of Mallorca and adapted according to the season.
✅ La Terraza Alcanada in Alcúdia. We arrived here by boat. It has a small jetty to dock boats right there in front of the restaurant. La Terraza has a modern, sophisticated and clean marine ambience. Its large windows are like huge paintings of the sea views. The bistro situated on the outside terrace has a different menu and a chill out area where you can have a drink.
✅ Restaurante Club Náutico de Pollensa: an elegant and traditional restaurant located within the building of the Club Nautic of Pollensa. From here there are views of the marina and the Bay of Pollensa. We tried the paella and I recommend it. Specialties of the house are paellas, seafood and fresh fish of the area.

Things to do in Deia Mallorca and surroundings
Apart from enjoying the wonderful cuisine and your charming accommodation, there is an extensive list of interesting and fun activities in the area for your romantic weekend:
? Hiking: in the northwest area there is a large offer of acuatic and terrestial sporting activity. Hiking is one of them. In the following link there are some examples of attractive routes. There is no better way to enjoy the beautiful nature of the Sierra de la Tramontana. We also made a beautiful walk in the area of Formentor.

? Biking: I was surprised with the amount of people riding a bike. Although I personally do not think it is a comfortable area to ride a bike. Both the Deia and the Formentor area have narrow roads which have to be shared by cars and bikes, but I realise most people do not care. Of course, you have to be in a good condition, there are many slopes.
?️ Enjoy beaches and coves: In the area of the Tramontana it is mainly about coves (like Cala de Deia and Sa Calobra). Formentor in the north also has a beautiful beach. It is surrounded by nature and there are very few constructions; just a hotel and some houses. Ofcourse there are many other options
?️ Visit idyllic villages: Strolling through the authentic villages of an area is one of my favorite activities when I visit a new place. In the Sierra de la Tramontana, picturesque towns such as Deia, Valldemosa or Sóller are a must. If you are in the north you can not miss Pollensa and Alcudia. All have that typical Mallorcan stamp; limestone houses with a rural design but elegant at the same time.
- Valldemosa
?? Markets: We were at the Pollensa market that is held every Sunday from 08:00 to 13:30. They offer products from the land, mainly food but also products made of wicker and pretty flowers. The shops of the village are also open so take the opportunity to spend the morning shopping. In Deia there is a local market on Wednesday mornings.
? Rent a boat: For your romantic weekend in Mallorca, nothing better than navegating together on a boat. There is a good offer in the Port of Pollensa or Alcudia. The advantage is that you can get to some coves which are normally difficult to reach and it will save you any parking problems. The vision of the land from a boat always gives a new and interesting approach.
Transport to Deia Mallorca
Flight
Being a very popular destination, flights arrive from all over Europe to the Palma de Mallorca airport, so it should not be difficult to find your adequate flight.
Rent a car
Eev if you have a transfer included I recommend hiring car to be able to visit the islands secrets. There is an extensive offer of rental care agencies. At the airport there are all the typical companies like Herz, Avis and Europcar and several others. I always prefer to rent a car with a company that is inside the airport. There are several that are not, and often you loose time getting there.
Inside the airport I recommend not renting with Goldcar. They are cheap but we have had very bad experience with them, they even threatened us?. I have read many very bad comments about them and they are always the same complaints (and the threats are typical). Better pay a little more and feel comfortable.
From the airport it is 40 minutes by car to Deia Mallorca.
Take a ferry
There are many ferries that connect with Palma and Alcudia from among others Barcelona, Valencia, Denia, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. If you plan to spend at least 1 week or if you live near the ferries, it could be a very interesting option. For a long weekend from Madrid it’s not worth it, you waste too much time.
